Exercising During Pregnancy
QUICK TIDBIT ON KEEPING ACTIVE DURING PREGNANCY
Do you ever feel “mom guilt”? Do you struggle with not feeling “good enough” as a parent?
This is something I struggle with on a daily basis! At some point it starts to feel like this is just part of being a parent.
Let me tell you a secret! It doesn’t have to be! I am 3 1/2 months postpartum and just like you, I struggle with “mom guilt”. Throughout my pregnancy I tried to work out, do yoga, eat a healthy and well-balanced diet. Sounds easy, right?
Well we all know it’s not! So here’s another secret! You don’t need to be the perfect parent and you don’t have to be perfect while you’re pregnant either. The reality is that you’re busy. If you’re like me, you might have other kids to take care of. So when the heck are you supposed to get in the gym and eat gourmet homemade meals? Here’s the deal- it doesn’t have to be every day! Do whatever feels comfortable for you but if you can get in the gym even once a week that’s great!
FIND A CLASS!
Here’s my best advice- find a class to join at the gym and stick to making it to that ONE class. Once you get yourself in a gym routine I guarantee it will start feeling easier. I started off with yoga once a week. Some weeks I went 2 or 3x and some weeks I didn’t go at all, but I loved it! Then I switched to a yoga and Pilates class. The class doesn’t need to be specifically for pregnancy or postpartum either. While in the class you can modify any exercises or movements so they work for your body. I just took a Yogalates class at my gym until 2 days before I gave birth! So go find your favorite neighborhood gym- I promise you won’t regret it!
